How To: Self-Reset Computer Password Before It Expires.
Description: If you have received a notification that your password is going to expire soon or you need to reset your password for any other reason and your remember your current password, this guide will walk you through resetting your password on your computer.
This article will also cover how to reconnect to the office Wi-Fi after your password has been changed.
Prerequisites: (if any of these are an issue, please contact the IT Support team)
- You will need to know your current computer login password and it has not expired yet.
- You will need to either be connected to the network in the office, connected to our VPN if you are out of the office, or logged into the Virtual Desktop if you are using a personal computer.
- Password reset will not work if you are connected to the BoyumGuest WiFi network.
Password Reset Process:
- Ensure Microsoft Office related apps are closed. This would include Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.
- Press the Ctrl+Alt+Delete keys at the same time on your keyboard.
- If you are logged into the remote desktop through a personal computer you will press Ctrl+Alt+End on your keyboard.
- If on the remote desktop while using a Mac computer you will press fn+Ctrl+Option+Delete
- On the screen that appears select "Change a Password".
- You will be prompted to first enter your current password then your new chosen password in the next two fields.
- Password must be at least 15 characters.
- Password should contain an upper case letter, lower case letter, number, and special character.
- You will see a confirmation message telling you your password was successfully changed when the password change is complete.
Reconnecting to Wi-Fi
When you reset your computer password you will also have to reconnect to the BoyumSecure Wi-Fi network in the office with your new password.

Click on the the status icons in the bottom right corner of your primary monitor. Then click the right facing arrow button next to the Wi-Fi symbol.

- These are the icons that show your current network status, sound volume level, and battery charge.
- These icons will only be visible on the monitor set as your primary monitor, by default this is usually you laptop screen.

Right-click on BoyumSecure, in the contextual menu that appears left-click on "Forget".
